Tunisia and Egypt: Revolt in the Arab World
Monday, February 14, 5:30 PM
Gregory Hall R. 215 (southwest side of main quad)
First,
a popular uprising toppled hated Tunisian dictator Zine el Abidine Ben
Ali. Now, millions of Egyptians have withstood brutal repression by
the U.S.-backed regime of Hosni Mubarak to demand dignity, justice and
democracy. For the first time in many years, ordinary people are posing
an alternative to U.S. domination of the Middle East and are taking
control of their own destiny. Come join activists to discuss what the
revolt shaking the region means for all those who would like to see a
better world.
Panel Discussion featuring:
*Ola Moshref--Egyptian activist and Graduate student in Computational
Linguistics
*Eric Heim--Undergrad and member of the International Socialist Organization
Sponsored by the C-U branch of the International Socialist Organization. For more information, call 415-713-6260 or email iso.champaign at gmail.com.
