In solidarity with the workers of Wisconsin and the concern over bills in
the state of Illinois, the GEO group leaving for Springfield Illinois at
9:55am from the Y.

Greetings:



This e-mail lays out a plan for tomorrow. You’ll find departure and return
info, directions, and general guidelines for a solid rally experience.
Standing in solidarity in Springfield is going to be great, and I look
forward to going with you all.

Ok, so here it is. Please be at the University YMCA by 9:55am so we can
leave at 10am. I will call people who are not there by then and try to
figure a way to get you.



Zack, Anne, Amy and Sarah are confirmed drivers. We have smelly gas. But
money don’t hurt.



Please bring food and warm clothes. You may want umbrellas for when you are
not in the car and blankets for when you are. If you use the umbrellas in
the car and the blankets while outside that would only work for a limited
amount of time.

Just in case of badness or emergencies in Springfield here are two city

>From the Y, get out to Springfield Ave, go N on Prospect, west on Church.

Get onto Interstate 72 West. Drive all the way to Springfield, IL (80
miles).

As you approach east Springfield look for route 97. Merge onto 97/E Clear
Lake heading toward downtown Springfield, 97/E Clear Lake eventually becomes
East Jefferson. Stay on this road (97/E Clear Lake/ E Jefferson) until South
6th St. Turn Right on 6th St.



Parking: We are going to look for parking anywhere between 6th and
1ststreets to the North of Jefferson. Once you have parked try to get
with the
group. If you get split from the group, head to the meeting point.



Meeting point: Amtrak station yeah! It is on 3rd St. between Jefferson and
Washington.



Destination: Once we get together we can march toward to east side of the
capital building on 2nd St. The building will be to our south and the wind
will be at our backs. (301 S 2nd Avenue, Springfield, IL 62756).  If you
have been split from the group you may call. If you have not found parking
your best bet is to continue west down Jefferson and take a left (go south)
on Walnut.  Find parking around the high school and then head northeast to
the capital building.



If there are significant crowds and mobility is limited, stay with a group
and call a friend. We’ll come together like we know how.



If you leave the city or head back to CU early please let Zack or your
driver know. If you need a hide out you can go to Grab-a-Java on 1702
S 6thand tell them you are a GEO UIUC member. You may get free coffee,
but it is
only a drive thru. It is owned by GEO member Sarah Lazare’s father.



Our departure should be coordinated. So please try to head back to your cars
and CU in an organized fashion (no manatee business, but monkey business is
encouraged).
