>From President Bush's proclamation of "mission accomplished" with 
respect to Iraq to General Petreaus' optimistic assessments about 
"progress" in Afghanistan, leaders have made a number of claims about 
the accomplishments of US military and peacebuilding efforts. This 
presentation will provide a series on objective standards and indicators 
for assessing US efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan and some preliminary 
conclusions by applying those standards to the two contexts in question.
