-------------- next part --------------
At a meeting with the legislators from Indiana, I made reference to
Socialist Forum and the inspiration we found from that man from Terre
Haute,
Eugene Debs. They seemed to relate very positively to that. But the
husband of one of the legislators remarked that socialists really
have not gotten their message out very well. I agreed that we were
not very specific usually in what we really stood for in terms of
what kinds of policies we wanted to advance.
This led me to draw up a very provisional draft of where we are today
in this country, and some of the very specific changes that we would
like to see. This is not a strategic or tactical document. It is
simply an attempt to let people know "where we stand" using specifics
that people can relate to in our present very critical conjuncture.
It is meant as a basis for discussion at the meeting at 2 pm tomorrow
at the IMC. We would still need to discuss strategies and tactics,
but I think that it is best to have a program in mind of where we
would like to go before talking about how we are going to try to get
there.
I hope to see you all there.
