On TV this evening (8PM Tuesday, on WILL-TV) is a PBS Frontline documentary
about Bradley Manning and the Wikileaks leaks. Karen and I watched a sort of
10-minute preview of this show a month or so ago. If the full show resembles
the preview, it may well be a hatchet job -- showing Manning as an unstable
violent homosexual misfit, someone who would have had no moral basis for
leaking the videos that showed the cheerful bombardment of civilians from
Army helicopters in Baghdad, or the vast collection of classified cables
that among other things may have helped trigger the Arab Spring uprisings...

If it's as bad as I expect, PBS deserves a letter. If you get a chance to
watch it, please share what you think. (Replies set to peace-discuss by default...)

Also on TV tonight, if all goes well: at 10pm on UPTV cable channel 6,
AWARE on the Air will show the film "Reel Bad Arabs",
from retired SIU professor Jack Shaheen, which
explores a long line of degrading images of Arabs--from
Bedouin bandits and submissive maidens to sinister
sheikhs and gun-wielding 'terrorists'--along the way
offering devastating insights into the origin of these
stereotypic images, their development at key points
in US history, and why they matter so much today
