[A local justice event, because an injury to one is an injury to
all... -karen medina]

As a result of the University's interpretation of tax law, many
graduate assistants received $0 paychecks in October, and many will
receive $0 paychecks again in November 2011.

Come support the graduate assistants in demanding that the University
provide financial relief to affected GAs.

PayDay Rally
November 16th
4:30pm @ the Alma Mater (SE corner of Wright St. and Green St.)
The Graduate Employees Organization demands that the University of Illinois:
1) Ensure clear communication about GA/PGA taxation for future
graduate students
2) Investigate the over-representation of students of color among the
affected GAs/PGAs
3) Provide Novemeber emergency grants to help students survive
4) Work on long-term solutions such as lobbying to change the federal tax code

[Keep in mind that most GAs do not get paid over the month-long Winter
Break either.]
