Wednesday, Sep. 28th, 7:00pm at the Friends Meeting House in Urbana,
1904 E. Main St., Urbana:

Hear from Stephen Donahoe, of the Friends Committee on National Legislation,
talk about issues the FCNL works on - cutting the Pentagon budget,
ending and preventing war, environmental sustainability, nuclear disarmament
    and Native American rights.

More on this below.

Note also *tomorrow* (6pm Fri 9/23) at Salem Baptist Church, 500 E Park St.
		"Locked Up and Locked Out"

6pm meal, 6:30pm film showing, discussion to follow
Two short films show how an organization of formerly incarcerated
people in California, "All of Us or None," has successfully fought for
job opportunities, expungement of charges from their records,
and removing the stigma of a criminal record.

Urbana residents Aaron Ammons and James Kilgore will talk
about the problems their felony convictions have caused them and why
those with felony convictions need to come together to fight for their
    rights.

(If you missed the similar showing & discussion last Friday at the IMC,
here's another chance. Millions of people in the US, especially people of color,
are branded with felony convictions, and discrimination against them -- even when
their offenses are decades old -- is legal and routine. Changing this,
as Michelle Alexander points out, will take a major social movement.
Perhaps this is a seed for that growing movement.)
