Free and open to the public.

*Art:* Ramiro Rodriguez' relief print series combines passages from books
of the Bible with images of contemporary immigrant issues such as rights
abuses due to legislation. This exhibition will also include prints that
trace Rodriguez' familial experiences as a first generation son of
immigrants and as a parent of mixed culture children.

*Live Music:** Los Condenados Huastecos* (the condemned huastecos) are a
Chicago-based trio that specializes in the son huasteco music of Mexico's
central gulf coast region. A variant of one of the country’s most
emblematic traditional music-types, the Mexican son, the huasteco style is
distinguished by its virtuosic fiddle playing, canorous falsetto singing,
and poetic improvisation. With parallel interests in bridging grassroots
connections between the arts and local Latina/o communities, Los Condenados
Huastecos have performed at cultural and educational events in the Chicago
area, northern Indiana, and central Illinois. In July of 2011, they were
invited to participate in the Old Town School of Folk Music’s 14th annual
Chicago Folk and Roots Festival. The group’s members include Alex Chávez
(guitarra quinta huapanguera), Carlos García (jarana), and Juan Rivera
(violin) of Latin Grammy Award nominated Sones de México.
