. . . makes the case for $4-6 trillion as the true financial cost of the
Iraq and Afghanistan wars. If we accept $5 trillion as the average, then:

5 trillion / 314 million (US citizens) * 12.9 million (IL residents) =
$205.4 billion

This estimate includes the long-term benefits and compensation for the many
victims of the war, certainly not a sure thing. It also doesn't include war
reparations, which would make the final figure larger.
