Friends,
I am writing for your support. The sketch above is of Maria. Maria is a 12
year old girl from Daraa, Syria. One day, Maria is getting ready to bathe
her doll, as she does every day, when her home is shelled. The ceiling
collapses, crushing Maria's body under the rubble.

Her father finds his daughter buried under the rubble and rushes to the
nearest emergency clinic with her in his arms. That emergency clinic has
also been destroyed.

At another clinic nearby, Maria is diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage and
several fractures in her head and neck. This clinic falls under siege and
Maria has to be evacuated. Refugeed and desperate to find treatment for
their wounded daughter, Maria's parents flee to Jordan. She checks into a
hospital where she is diagnosed with edema, severe facial swelling, severe
pain in the head and neck due to broken vertebrae, an inflamed wound in her
scalp, and severe bruising to her face. On top of this, Maria suffers from
multiple seizures during the day.

Unfortunately, because Maria's family cannot afford the hospital bills,
Maria must be released.

How many other Maria's are there?

How many beautiful children have had their lives flipped upside down in a
heartbeat? Children, who are everyday suffering life threatening injuries.
Whose only obstacle to life itself is the hospital bill they cannot afford
to pay.

So I am partnering with Syrian Relief & Development (SRD) and running for
victims, similar to Maria, which need free emergency medical care. Help me
raise funds for their Refugee Trauma Center, located in a wing of Akilah
Hospital in Amman, Jordan that provides essential medical treatments
completely free of cost, to those in need.
