*IMC Presents:*
*Dr. Robert McChesney *
on his new book

*Digital Disconnect:How Capitalism is Turning the Internet Against
Democracy*
at the Independent Media Center
*Tuesday, April 22 * 7-9pm*
*This event is free and open to the public*

One of the foremost experts in his field, Dr. McChesney offers a startling
analysis of how commerce has corrupted the Internet, collapsing credible
journalism and freedom of access to information in favor of unchecked
consumerism.

He proposes that we cannot examine the growth of the Internet without
considering capitalism as a key component. The Internet has allowed news to
travel to millions in seconds but, McChesney states, not without the
serious limits that commerce has placed on democratic free speech on the
web.

Come hear Dr. McChesney speak and engage the public in discussion about
this important issue.

The UCIMC is located at 202 S. Broadway Ave in Urbana, Illinois. Contact
