Students for Justice in Palestine UIUC presents

Israeli Apartheid Week 2014

Events

*Monday, April 21st - 7PM - Everitt Labratory 269*
* Zionist Manifest Destiny: Apartheid to Erase the Palestinian Narrative*
Speaker: Hatem Bazian (co-founder of American Muslims for Palestine)
Is there ever a valid reason for a people to be kicked off of their land?
Well, a commonly used reason is the excuse that it never belonged to them
in the first place. Israel has been using this thought process for decades
and even today will remove Palestinians on the basis that they are Bedouins
or that it is the Israelis’ religious right. This lecture will counter this
argument by proving that there is an important Palestinian narrative that
is very much there, but stifled by Zionist agendas.

*Tuesday, April 22nd - 6PM - Gregory Hall 213*
*Eyewitness Account of Max Suchan: Displacement of the Palestinian People*
Speaker: Max Suchan
Come learn about the new settlements being built in the West Bank. He will
be sharing his personal experiences from his time spent in the West bank.

*Wednesday, April 23rd - 7PM - Ceramics Building 218 *
*A Panel Discussion on the Current Situation in Palestine*
Professors from the University of Illinois each give a current viewpoint
about the situation in Palestine, and the role that the United States has
in the conflict.

*Thursday, April 24th - 7PM - YMCA*
*The Palestinian People: Culture in Midst of Oppression*
In the midst of ongoing oppression, the culture and traditions of the
Palestinian people are being threatened. Historian and Illinois State
University professor Dr. Issam Nassar will look at the origins of this
cultural change and it's conclusions relating to the present situation in
Palestine.

*Additional things happening*
*Mock Apartheid Wall: All Day*
Monday 4/21, Tuesday 4/22, Wednesday 4/23
