I'm happy to announce my first public book talk in Champaign-Urbana for *The
Negro in Illinois: The WPA Papers* will be *Saturday, Feb. 15, 2-3pm at the
Urbana Free Library*. I'll be speaking about local connections in the book
- WPA workers doing research at the University of Illinois library, mention
of segregation in Champaign, and citation of late nineteenth-century
editorials from the *News-Gazette*. I hope you can make it. I'll be selling
the book at a discounted rate and signing copies afterwards.

In case you missed it, this
article<http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-09-08/news/ct-met-trice-wpa-book-0909-20130909_1_harsh-research-collection-michael-flug-richard-wright>about
the book appeared in the *Chicago
Tribune*. You can watch a book talk I gave in Chicago that was broadcast on
C-SPAN's Book TV here <http://www.c-span.org/video/?316160-1/WPA>.

Today, Feb. 1, I also want to wish Happy Birthday to Langston Hughes, an
intermittent resident of Chicago. Here's
video<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uM7HSOwJw20>of Langston Hughes
reading "The Weary Blues."
