That's what's at stake in a Senate vote this week. Sen. John McCain (AZ) is
planning to amend the annual military policy bill to give the Pentagon even
more money above the nearly $600 billion already under consideration.

Worse, our lobbyists have heard that *a back-room deal is in the works to
keep the vote for $17 billion dollars off the record.* This major funding
decision could come up for a voice vote — making it impossible to hold
senators accountable for their position.

The vote could happen as soon as Thursday. *Please call the Capitol
Switchboard now at 877-429-0678 <877-429-0678> and ask to be connected to
your senators' offices.*

Here are some talking points to help you make your call:

   - Hi, my name is _______, and I'm a constituent from __________.
   - Please oppose any increases to Pentagon spending in the National
   Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
   - Sen. McCain's $17 billion spending increase is too important for a
   voice vote. Please call for a recorded vote so we know where the senator
   stands.

The Pentagon's already-bloated budget shouldn't get another $17 billion
