My purpose in forwarding the email from Robert Weissman/Public Citizen was to emphasize there are other objections to Kavanaugh's appointment besides the RvW issue.  Defenders on both sides of the issue seem to be focused on just one.  (He gave a very good interview yesterday on Democracy Now).

Isn't the whole Kavanaugh show a bipartisan hoax? 

Democrats don't have the votes to block Kavanaugh. Every Republican is expected to vote to confirm. Republicans have the majority in the Senate. Therefore, the ultimate outcome is a foregone conclusion. Therefore, the "stakes" are zero. 

Why the Kabuki? Why the pretense? 

Isn't it just a fundraising and mobilization exercise for both parties? 

Why should we, people who care about issues, waste any time or attention on it?
