Thank you, Lois.And, I would add that women's reproductive rights, or lack of rights, affect the poor the most. Just as slave owners legally owned the bodies, controlled the reproduction, and limited education for generations, so has the Catholic church created a power class to manipulate and interfere with women, especially poor women, gaining power over their own bodies and their reproduction. It has been quite effective at limiting the role of women to that of mother, thereby thwarting any chance of gaining time and energy for education.
