Chris Hedges is often referred to as morbid, or a nihilist. Yes, he is, but I find him refreshing in that he doesn't offer false hope, he offers truth as to where we are, and where we are headed if we don't do something about it. He offers a solution, and it's not the usual nonsense offered by other intellectuals, such as voting for the "right candidate." He suggests civil disobedience/ resistance with critical mass movements.

I take it a step further requiring a vanguard offering a plan, shared goals of system change.

Hedges makes it clear that protests, strikes, sit downs, must be non-violent, to which I agree. I don't agree with him on everything, such as the goal of "scaring government into doing the peoples bidding," as was done in the seventies influencing Nixon to implement reforms, as was done by Roosevelt with his introduction of programs to save humanity, and capitalism.

I believe it's time, beyond time, to end capitalism as we know it, and replace it with a new system of socialism.

US socialism won't look anything like that of other socialist nations as every culture with its own material conditions differs in results.

To be clear, I'm not a pacifist, I support uprisings under certain conditions such as "occupation," but as a tactic to engage large masses of the American people it is necessary to remain non-violent, though we know the powers that be will respond with violence. This should not however, deter us from taking action, as the violence being perpetrated against people's around the world by our government and ally's/proxy's needs to end.
