2. Wanna become Santa but don’t want to dress up in that stupid red costume?
Then this is the perfect opportunity for you. The Champaign Park District is
looking for volunteers to call children and pretend to be Santa. The children
will share their holiday wishes with you over the phone. This even will take
place on Tuesday December 9th from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at Bresnan Meeting Center
706 Kenwood Rd. in Champaign. The only requirement is that you have an
outgoing personality and love to interact with children. Contact Kristi
Bolton at 398-2550 if you want to help out.

3. The Champaign County Historical Museum is looking for volunteers to help
establish a permanent display in their museum. Currently, displays rotate
frequently, but the museum is looking for a permanent exhibit to remain at all
times. If you are interested in helping create this exhibit and becoming a
part of Champaign History that will remain forever, contact Paul Idleman at
356-1010 or at director at champaignmuseum.org

4. Generations of Hope is looking for African American males to mentor
children. They need people who are interested in helping out (they will
accommodate your schedule) by tutoring, going out to movies, playing games, or
doing whatever you want with other African American children. They are also
willing to work with groups who would like to do projects, parties, or
whatever else you can think of. Generations of Hope will give you the
opportunity to be as creative as possible in order to help these kids.
Contact Carolyn Casteel at 893-4673 or at generations at soltec.net if interested

5. One in three women and one in six men will experience sexual violence
before age 18. But you can help! Rape Crisis Services will be holding winter
and spring training for crisis counselors and medical/legal advocates. The
winter training starts January 28, 2004 and is every Monday, Wednesday,
Thursday, and Saturday for three weeks. Spring training starts March 2nd and
is every Thursday and Saturday for 7 weeks. Volunteers from diverse
backgrounds are encouraged to apply. For more information or to set up an
interview, email nora at sagen at awomansfund.org or call 355-5214.

6. The Center for Women in Transition throws a party for the children every
year to give them some holiday cheer. This year our Holiday Party will be Dec.
9th from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. They need volunteers to help in the following
ways:
