3. Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation, Inc collects old cell phones
to help victims of domestic violence. These phones are recharged and then
distributed to people who suffer from domestic violence so that they may use
them to call 911 if needed. Your phone could help save a life. Just bring
them in to the OVP office (280 Illini Union) or to Land of Lincoln (1817 S.
Neil Street, Champaign). If you have any questions contact Land of Lincoln at
356-1351 or sstrand at lollaf.org

4. C-U Special Recreation is looking for volunteers to help with the Special
Olympics Swim Team. Volunteers would work with individuals to help them
develop specific skills (kicking, breath rhythm, endurance). Practices are
from 8 to 9 pm on Tuesdays at the new Urbana Middle School Pool (corner of
Vine and Michigan in Urbana). Great swimming ability is not necessary. As
long as you can float, you can help us. For more information contact Brian
Dubina at dubina at uiuc.edu (just reply to this message). Transportation can be
provided, if necessary.

5. It’s that time of year again . . . no not Finals time, but Girl Scout
Cookie time. The Girl Scouts are looking for volunteers to help at Hutchcraft
Van Lines in Urbana on Tuesday March 2nd and Wednesday March 3rd from 9am to
3pm. They would prefer 2-hour shifts, but whatever you can do would be
wonderful. They need help of putting together cases of cookies for the troop
cookie managers to pick up. If you are interested, contact Jill Rannebarger
at jrrannebarger at aol.com or 355-8451

6. Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature fundraiser. It
is an awesome event here at U of I. This year it will take place on April
23-24 from 7pm-7am at the U of I track. Basically, that night, teams of 10-12
people take turns walking around a track to honor and remember those who have
battled cancer. There are also tons of activities going on all night long-
games, music, speakers, food, ect- basically one big party for a great cause!
Each team member is asked to raise a minimum of $100 for ACS. To register a
team, all you need is a team captain and a $50 registration fee. Teams can
register this Wednesday, February 4 from 5-7pm in room 215 Illini Union or
next Wednesday, February 11 at our new team captain's meeting at 7:30 in room
217 Noyes.
