1. Donate a Toy for Free Bowling

Starting November 1st, Illini Union Rec Room is offering
coupons for a free game of bowling to the first 100 people
who bring in toys for OVP’s Annual Holiday Toy Drive. The Toy
Drive begins on November 1st and ends December 6th. Email
Lindsay at lbaran at uiuc.edu with the number of children you
would like to sponsor, and she will give you a specific age
bracket and requested gift ideas. This is done in order for a
wider range of children to receive gifts rather than over
emphasis on a particular age group. Please keep your toy
purchases at $15 or less. Drop off new toys in the OVP office
located at 277 Illini Union in the RSO complex between the
hours of 9AM-5PM, Monday through Friday. Please do not wrap
the toys. The toys collected will be distributed to human
service agencies in Champaign County. If you have any further
questions or concerns feel free to contact Lindsay or call
the Office of Volunteer Programs at (217) 333-7424.

2. Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service

We are pleased to announce that scholarship applications are
now being accepted for the Institute on Philanthropy and
Voluntary Service, a dynamic summer program for undergraduate
students interested in volunteerism and careers in the
nonprofit sector. The 2005 summer institute will be held from
June 4 through July 30, 2005, at Georgetown University in
Washington, D.C. This fast-paced Institute offers a rigorous
combination of professional experience, academic learning and
service projects that will provide students with an
unparalleled experience in the nations capital: internships
offer competitive placements with national & community
nonprofit organizations, classes may be taken up to 9 credit
hours from Georgetown University, housing will be furnished
on-campus apartments, volunteerism will be practiced through
a variety of hands-on community projects, and scholarships
will be available, over half of all students receive full or
partial funding.

request a brochure, please visit the website at
www.dcinternships.org/ipvs or contact Ms. Shane Goldsmith,

4. Coach or Referee Special Olympic Basketball

Come help our Special Olympics Basketball Teams! We have 3
teams; 2 men's and 1 ladies’ plus a group of basketball
skills participants. Help is needed to teach skills, rebound
the ball, play scrimmage games and basic coaching of the game
on Thursdays, 5:30PM-6:30PM, sometimes till 8:00PM. Games may
be played against other teams on Thursday after practice
times. This schedule of practices will run through December.

The park district is also looking for referees for the games.

programs for girls between the ages 5-17! There are lots of
opportunities available to teach girls how to assist people
with disabilities, table manners, or have fun with them at a
dance workshop. We need your help! If you have a group of
individuals who would like to help us from start to finish,
we are willing to work with you to find an activity that fits
into your schedule! Most events will be on nights or
weekends. We'll work with you to find an event you can help
at! Contact Vicki Harber-Wheeler by email at vicki at gsgmc.org
