1.  OVP Holiday Toy Drive

If you want to feel jolly and enjoy your holly-day season this year, and collect presents for local children in the community!  Bring in new toys worth about $15 each to room 277 Union and ensure your spot on the "Nice" list this year.  Donations will be collected from November 13 - December 6.  Additionally, individuals who personally drop off their donations at the Office of Volunteer Programs can register to win an iPod nano!  

 

2.  Second Annual RSO Service & Leadership Workshop
Interested in getting your group involved in public service?  The Office of Volunteer Programs is offering its Second Annual RSO Service & Leadership Workshop to help you plan the perfect project for your organization!  Refine your skills in recruiting, marketing and fund raising.  Learn more about effective event planning and coordination.  We'll help you complete your project from start to finish!  The workshop is free-of-charge and will be held in Illini Union room 405 on January 28, 2007 from 2-4 pm.  Registration will be through the OVP website at a future date.  And don't hesitate to contact us at ovp at uiuc.edu with questions.

 

3.  OVP Non-Profit and Government Career Fair Planning Committee

The Office of Volunteer Programs is looking for 4-6 students to serve on a planning committee for the Non-Profit and Government Career Fair to be held at the Illini Union during the spring of 2007.  OVP is looking at adding workshops and other activities besides the fair, and student input would be really great.  The commitment would be 2-4 hours total. 4.   Emergency Medical Experience/Patient Treatment; CPR, EMT-Basic, FR Classes

Join Illini Emergency Medical Services and staff university events such as sporting events, special occasions, and graduation. Food is provided and volunteers get to watch their favorite sporting events for free!  Contact Christine Schroeder at iems at uiuc.edu <mailto:iems at uiuc.edu>  for more information!

 

5.  Mentoring

The 1st United Methodist Church of Champaign is looking for dedicated college students to help out with their mentoring program for the Spring semester!  Contact Mary Brady at

6.  Holiday Mailing

Looking for an easy volunteer opportunity during the holiday season?  Help the Center for Women in Transition with their holiday mailings!  Volunteers are needed for December 7, 2006 from 1pm-4pm and Dec 8, 2006 from noon-3pm.  Contact Michael Parrish at (217) 352-7151 for more information!

 

7.  Jewish Service Corps

AVODAH: HELP fight for justice and equality in New York, Chicago, and Washington DC's neediest neighborhoods.  Work full-time on issues you care about like immigration, hunger, literacy, public health, domestic violence, and more. 8.  Christmas in a box Distribution

The Vineyard Food Ministry is looking for volunteers to deliver boxes of food and gifts from their "angel tree" to residents at Restoration Urban Ministries. 9.  Wrapping Presents!

Come practice your present wrapping skills and spread holiday cheer at Marketplace Mall! The Reading Group needs TONS of volunteers to wrap gifts (no experience necessary) from 10 am - 8 pm weekends in December and the week before Christmas. (So Dec. 9,10,16-24)! 10. Crisis Nursery Children's Holiday Shop

Each year Crisis Nursery hosts a Children's Holiday Shop where children under the age of 12 get to shop for gifts priced $1-$7.  Crisis Nursery needs your help to assist children in their shopping endeavors!  This is a great group activity!  The Holiday Shop will be located at Lincoln Square Village and will take place on December 10th (Noon - 5:00 pm).  Call 217-337-2731 for more information!!
