1.  Rescheduled:  Persuasion and Social Change - April 25th!

Join Professor Patrick Vargas for a one-hour workshop on the role of persuasion in efforts concerning social change.  He will be leading those who attend in a series of group and individual exercises through which you can learn about techniques commonly used by advertising and marketing specialists and learn to adapt these techniques for promoting the social change and social good.  Knowledge itself is often not enough to inspire change.  Real change requires action!  Come learn about persuasion, one key to moving people from knowledge to action.  This workshop will take place on Wednesday, April 25th from 7pm-8pm in room 406 Illini Union.  No registration is required. 2.  Locks of Love

There will be a Locks of Love Drive at the annual McKinley Health Fair in the Illini Union. The fair will be Tuesday, April 24th from 10am-3pm.  For those who do not know what Lock's of Love is, it's an organization that makes wigs for kids who have lost their hair to disease and cancer treatment. It's a wonderful cause and a great way to make a difference!   *Donations must be at least 10 inches long  *Hair must be clean and in good health  *Hair cannot be bleached or chemically damaged., however, color and perms are ok. 3.  ICTM State Finals Volunteers

The Math Department is looking for volunteers for the ICTM State Finals high school math contest on Saturday, April 28, 2007.  Over 2000 students from over 200 schools participate in the contest, and we need many volunteers to make the day run smoothly.  They need people in every category, but especially proctors, data entry, graders, timers and assistants for the Oral competition, director's assistants, runners, and folks to help move boxes on the day of the contest. 4.  Roger Ebert Overlooked Film Festival

Ever wanted to work in the movies?  How about for them?  140 volunteers are needed to sell concessions, usher, sell merchandise, assist with crowd control, help with VIP/Press/Passholder registration area and much more! 5.  Swing Setters Pre school program

You can help assist with the supervision of the Swing Setters play school program at the Springer Cultural Center. Help with outside activities, arts and crafts, snack time etc. This is a great opportunity or early education or child development majors!  Volunteers are needed Monday through Thursday from  8:45 am - 11:45 am. 6.  Friday Funsters

Are your Friday mornings free?  You can help assist with the supervision of the Swing Setters play school program at the Springer Cultural Center. Three volunteers are needed on Fridays from  8:45 am - 11:45 am. 7.  Children's Program Intern

The Center for Women in Transition is looking for an Intern!  Interns act as "second in command" to the Children's Program Coordinator. This includes assisting in day-to-day operations of the program, supervising volunteers, being responsible for playgroups, and supervising children and promoting positive play through educational and fun activities. This internship will provide hands-on experience in managing a children's program in a non-profit setting. Please call or email for a more detailed job description and application. 8.  District Bocce Tournament

Do you love bocce ball?  Come volunteer on April 28th from 8am to 4pm at the District Bocce Ball Tournament! This event needs 40 volunteers and will take place at Dexter Softball Field - Champaign Park District on John St. and Kenwood Rd.



9.   Arabic Translator
Do you know Arabic?  Then someone at the Center for Women who needs your help!  An Arabic translator is needed for a current resident.  Contact Michael Parrish at (217) 352-7151 or volunteer at cwt-cu.org <mailto:volunteer at cwt-cu.org>  for more information!

 

10.  Dog Walking

Is your pet dog back in your home town?  Having puppy withdrawal, perhaps?  The Champaign County Human Society needs volunteers to walk the adoptable dogs anytime Monday-Saturday from 9am-6pm and Sundays 9am-4pm.
