1.  Help OVP Clean-Up It's Listserv

2.  C-U Summer Volunteer Email List and Opportunities

Are you staying in the C-U area over the summer?  Spend some of your free time helping out the community!  Email Amy at sponsler at uiuc.edu <mailto:sponsler at uiuc.edu>  to be placed on the Summer Volunteer Illini Projects Listserv!

 

3.  A Brand New OVP!!!

The Office of Volunteer Programs will be located next year at 284 Illini Union!  With a larger space and more resources, we hope you and your RSO's will come visit us for help with all of your volunteering needs!  284 Illini Union is located on the southern side of the Illini Union right by the Illinois Leadership Center!  A Grand Opening Date will be set soon - we hope to see you there!!

 

4.  Reassurance Calling Volunteer

The Family Service Senior Resource Center needs volunteers to help them stay in touch with their seniors!  Volunteers are needed to make calls on TUESDAYs only. 5.  MTV U Grant

MTV U in collaboration with youth venture is granting up to $1000 a week for student-run service projects.  To be eligible for an mtvU Grant, your project or idea must be a new organization or initiative at an existing organization, sustainable, and a benefit to the community. 6.  Donate New Children's Books for the program Room to Read

The founder of this organization was on the Oprah show a couple weeks ago. This organization looks to donate NEW children's books to less fortunate children in developing countries around the world such as Nepal, Cambodia, India, Laos, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and South Africa. Each of these countries faces a desperate lack of resources to educate their own children. You can drop off books or monetary sources in the Office of Volunteer Programs Room 280 Monday-Friday from 9:00-5:00pm. The room is located on the second floor, quad side of the union. We ask that you do not donate books which are religious or culturally sensitive. Please give back and help break the cycle of poverty! 7.  Children's Program Intern

The Center for Women in Transition is looking for an Intern!  Interns act as "second in command" to the Children's Program Coordinator. This includes assisting in day-to-day operations of the program, supervising volunteers, being responsible for playgroups, and supervising children and promoting positive play through educational and fun activities. This internship will provide hands-on experience in managing a children's program in a non-profit setting. Please call or email for a more detailed job description and application. 8.  Children's Building Fair

On Saturday, May 19th the Orpheum Children's Science Museum in downtown Champaign will be hosting their largest annual event, the Children's Building Fair.  This event takes place from 11 am to around 5 pm.  They need 10-12 volunteers  and we generally request that those volunteers sign up for 2 hours shifts. 9.   Gus Macker

The Champaign County Park District needs volunteers to for court supervision, ice/water runners, scorekeeping, team registration and more!  Volunteers are needed on 7/14/2007 - 7 a.m.-12 a.m and 7/15/2007 - 7 a.m.-12 a.m!  Contact Paul Bady at paul.bady at cparkdistrict.com <mailto:paul.bady at cparkdistrict.com>  or 217-398-2550!

 

10.  Touch a Truck

Volunteers to help children play on the trucks and direct the trucks as they park at Centennial Park!  Volunteers are needed on 5/23/2007 - 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.  Contact Paul Bady at paul.bady at cparkdistrict.com <mailto:paul.bady at cparkdistrict.com>  or 217-398-2550!
