Greetings from Sandra Ahten
Here is an update on all the various classes (not Weight Watchers), groups,
and shows that I have scheduled for the spring/ summer. Note the summer art
classes for kids.

Art Show: "I Want to Change the World- But I Can't Get out of the House."
Where: Independent Media Center, 218 W. Main St., Urbana (next to the
"Office Bar")
I am displaying paintings, drawings, crocheted sculpture, and prints, as
well as hand-made dolls, books and masks that in some way tie in with my
ongoing personal dilemma suggested by the title of the show. The show will
run through May 12 during IMC hours: Weekday 4-9pm; S&S Noon-9pm.

Here are my spring/ summer art classes.
Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
For adults who have always wanted to learn to draw, but felt like they
lacked talent or confidence. This class teaches "realistic" or

Art with Intention
Participants will have weekly readings, sketchbook and journaling
assignments that help them uncover and discover an intention in their own
art work. This class will be an exploration of voice. Individualized
projects will be based on the students desire to learn new media, explore a
theme, illustrate an idea, etc.
Some previous art instruction or permission required.

Here are details on a Facilited Support / Exploration Groups that I am
leading
Women's Body Group:
Participants will be exploring their own core issues in relation to their
thoughts and feelings, histories and hopes about their bodies. Discussion
will include issues of body image, healthy lifestyle goal setting, and
support. The goal of the group will be set by the women in attendance. Each
women will be setting their individual goals. The group will be supporting
each other in clarifying, assessing and moving toward their individual
goals. You do not have to know your goal "going in," rather participants
will be able to use the group as a way to explore their own individuality,
what makes them who they are, the kind of experiences that have led them to
eat compulsively (if they have) or diet as a way of coping, and how they
might use their body size and looks as a way to express or hide themselves.
There will also be aspects that are similar to a "consciousness-raising
group," where the stress is on the similarity of women's experiences so as
to pinpoint the ways society affects us all as womenThe groups will meet for
10 weeks and will be closed to new members for that duration. . In addition
we will discuss issues of aging, ailing, hormones and more.

Thursday's July 11- Sept 12 10am-11:30 Cost- $200
