I very much appreciate your comments,
and agree with them for the most part,
but you should know that one of the particular issues that is causing much 'internal turmoil' in the NAACP right now is the fact that they have a white president...who was not elected, but moved up from second vice president, to first vice president to president, because of the resignations of the president and first vice... it is a much longer and more complicated story, but the main point is that involving the naacp would not necessarily mean involving a 'black leader' at this point in time...

and just for the historical record, to supplement john's chronology, i got involved in the cprb initially, because i was an naacp member and was at the naacp meeting when john and the other greens came, and i volunteered to be on the 'subcommittee' to further explore the issue...

i'd really prefer to have this important conversation in person rather than on e-mail which is very prone to misunderstanding and is not conducive to the kind of dialogue that i think needs to happen... and i must also say that i am very happy about the concerns that are being expressed, because i do agree with them and think they need to be considered...

any chance that Ricky, John Paul, myself (elaine) and anyone else interested in discussing this further could get together for coffee and try to reach some understanding and agreement on where to go from here?
