It worked.  Granted, I was building on NetBSD, but the problem (as I
understand it) would have affected any build host.  FWIW, someone else
tells me he built NetBSD on Linux yesterday.  I have made a snap of my
sources for you at ~dyoung/cuwin-nebsd-snap-04-Oct-2005.tgz.
