[Imc-outreach] Re: IMC schedule

Generally, we do not formally schedule the front room. It is a common
meeting area open to the public. It is not available for rent and
therefore is not available for "reservation" either. Groups generally
try not to step on each other's toes but that's entirely informal.

This has caused problems in the past and I guess, caused a problem
this Saturday. It didn't seem like SF had more than an hour of stuff
to talk about, it didn't seem like we conflicted with their meeting or
they with ours. Certainly it is reasonable to schedule something in
the backroom and the front room at the same time.

I wonder if we should clarify our policies with Socialist Forum and
try to seek some change in policy that will keep them and us
happy. The folks from SF are all long time IMC supporters, SF is
allied with us in our WRFU effort, and SF is one of the first groups
to use the IMC as a meeting space. We should definitely try to make
sure that everyone is on the same page and happy with the way policy
is.

I would love to be replaced as Space Coordinator or to be given a
better scheduling system or better set of guidelines for how the space
can be reserved. I'm working with a combination of IMC space users who
don't always contact me, rules that don't address the front space or
groups that wish to use the entire space, and no formalized single
point of contact for space bookings (some people call me by phone,
some send me emails, some email the space, staff, info, imc, or
outreach group (not all of which I always follow closely)). I can
think of lots of ways to formalize the system that involve me writing
some software but I don't have time for that.
