A group of lawyers on the Champaign County Board has been plotting to kidnap the statue of Lincoln from Carle Park, across from Urbana High School. They intend to hold him hostage at the courthouse when the massive new addition currently under construction is completed. It’s a move that seems to have at its root their desire to promote the association of Lincoln with present-day lawyers, something which probably has the old fellow spinning in his grave.
