Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out the New-IMC process and how decisions get made
there... You'd think I'd have figured it out since I helped set it up --
but I need help. Who would like to answer these questions and post them
to the New-IMC at lists.indymedia.org and IMC-Process at lists.indymedia.org
e-mail lists?

Greetings to Sascha and to all compañeros,

I would like to complement Blicero's remarks and say that our procedure is
to set a 3 days deadline, not a 1 day one. By the way, the 3 day deadline is
usually set after months of discussion about a new imc here in this group.
This is not the case of us-imc, and many of the new-imc group volunteers
aren't even aware of this initiative.

Besides the issue of the new-imc process details, there is another problem:
the creation of a US-superimc is a very complex decision with long-term
implications for the Indymedia network as a whole and specifically for the
US collectives. And we know that it's far from being consensual even inside
the US, facing strong objections by many US imcs and imcistas. We in the
new-imc group are being asked to legitimate this initiative when we don't
even know if it's supported by a majority or a minority of local US imcs. Of
course all those who oppose this initiative in the US would be upset if we
did such a thing.

So, IMHO the next step is the US-process group to consult ALL the local US
imcs so everybody will be able to figure out what each of these collectives
thinks about the US website (after all, they will the first to be directly
affected by this initiative). It would also be interesting to create a TWiki
page where all the arguments for and against the US-superimc can be
discussed and debated - without hurry. After these steps, we will be
prepared to evaluate this application and all its positive or negative
consequences. Before that, we won't have enough elements to make a decision.
