[IMC-US] google news

There are some very good reasons to continue doing it
piecemeal. Boston got on recently using only our
features section, but when they picked us up they used
our whole site.

Apparently that is exactly how the whole network got
kicked off googlenews back in the day. Little green
footballs targeted us and posted some nasty shit then
started pelting googlenews with emails causing the
entire indymedia network to get booted..

That is the danger. One site could get the whole
network dumped.

The solution is in a little hack for dada that we have
that keeps the googlebots on our feature page, OR as
NYC handled it, bugging the shit out of google news
untill they stop searching the open newswires.

We should not apply for the whole network because
almost immediately we would get canned.

Additionally, and I don't know if this is because we
started applying again or what, but Googlenews just
initiated a new policy that will pull up more
"established, well respected" sites on a search query
before smaller ones like ours. Which makes it a
little less urgetn to get on there in my opinion.
still worth doing but not quite as powerful...
