WEFT PROGRAM PROPOSAL

WEFT has open times, weekly, monday evening. Danielle wrote a program
proposal, suggesting that the IMC fill six of the slots. Excerpting from the
proposal, ""News With Views" Dates: 11/27, 12/11, 1/8, 1/22, 1/29, 2/5. The
IMC producers of the show would like to have some flexibility in the structure
of each show. Generally the show would follow this format: First 20 minutes
local news from the week; Second 40 minutes local interviews; Third 10 minutes
spotlight on the IMC visions, invitation, future with WEFT." Schedule for
dates:

11/27: Mike Lehman - Debs Dinner
12/11: Peter Miller & Brent - Greens/Dems
1/8: Nancy D-R, Sarah Carsey, Sehvilla, Paul Kaiser - Champaign Schools
Racial Climate Survey
1/22: Danielle, Molly and Russell - Democrats & County Board
1/29: Eric, Pauline, Will - Bikes/Transportation/Urban Planning
2/5: Sarah Kanouse and Peter - National Council of African American Men

Peter requested that we have a standard format for the programs. Danielle and
Peter will work on it.

Midwifery. Paul Kaiser. In Illinois, Midwives are being branded as tools of
satan and entrapped by the authorities. Carle has "midwives," but they work
under physicians. Home birthing can lead to criminal charges. Sarah Kanouse
will work on it. Goal to produce both written and audio pieces (for Radio
Girl).

Immunizations. Paul Kaiser. Mandatory? It's being debated. Leave on back
burner.

UPDATES

Equipment -- Mike sent out a request for info (email, to socialist forum). No
responses.

Fundraising -- Things are OK

Radical Librarians and Anarchists -- Meeting 5 pm on the 27th. Contact Ellen
Knutsen for more info.

Outreach -- Sascha--Nat'l assn of blak journalists. They're interested in
helping. Local NYT journalist is also interested in our efforts. Springfield
IMC--Molly will contact.

Tech -- Website is working, but it's not "up". In a matter of days. Molly and
Zach have been working their booties off. Launch Party, Nov. 30. Sarah Peter
Danielle, Molly Sascha.

Space -- Cinema cafe. Norm and Carolyn want to open the cinema themselves and
turn it into an art gallery with people they know. We'll still talk to them to
see if we have options, but the tenor of the conversation has changed. Chub's
space is still available and open to discussion. Danielle solicited volunteers
to look at space. Danielle will arrange a viewing on Tuesday at 6:30 at Chub's
old office (next door to Laser's Edge), but she won't be there. $700/month
rent + $150 utilities. Sigfried chimed in: thinks we can get Cinema for free
if we work with them; saving $12000/year could be helpful for equipment and
services purchase, etc. Some are meeting with Norm and Carolyn this afternoon,
at 2:00.

IMC

xtn: What is the IMC? The local angle is missing from many IMC's. Much
information, but few links. It's important that we make big international
stories locally relevant. What are the issues with independent media and how
have they been addressed? How do people involved on the local level
communicate among themselves?

DC: Now, we have limited discussions (see above). That's problematic. (not
enough.) SDAS working on this somewhat--maybe design a workshop. Designing
the media.

Next Week's facilitator: Sehvilla.

Paul might be willing to do a photography workshop for the IMC!

Meeting ended at about 1:45.
