Dear IMC News Collective:

WILL-TV is embarking on a major outreach campaign to educate the public
about the epidemic of domestic violence and to use our airways to provide
resources to viewers and to connect workers on the front lines of the
epidemic with those who are in need of services. WILL would like to invite
the IMC News Collective to join us in this effort now and during October
during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

On Wednesday, August 23rd from 10am until noon, we are hosting a meeting
with area domestic violence workers including representatives from local
shelters, the legal system, and social services. At the meeting we will
preview a new documentary on domestic violence, "Breaking the Silence:
Journeys of Hope," and then will brainstorm with our guests the issues,
resources, and innovative programs they feel need attention. For our part,
WILL-TV will host and broadcast a live town hall meeting in our TV studio
after the broadcast of "Breaking the Silence" on October 24th. WILL radio
will do a series on domestic violence three days before the TV broadcast
during our newscasts and on our local talk program, "Afternoon Magazine."
Our Website will promote our special programming and provide resources to
our listeners and viewers.

We see Wednesday's meeting as a resource opportunity for media organizations
who would like to create special reports on and outreach around domestic
violence education and prevention in October. To maximize the impact we as
media organizations might have on this problem, WILL offers to cross promote
any coverage or special outreach your station does around this issue in
October.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I hope to see
someone from the IMC News Collective on Wednesday.

Sincerely,
Kimberlie Kranich
