Updates:

**Funding**
Have stabilized at $1250/mo w/ founding funders. (!!)
Grantwriters meet today after this mtg.

**Equipment**
Not much to report, may have to rewire small room for more outlets (Mike L
& Dave J)

**Tech**
Met yesterday, came up with schematic for wiring for phone, ethernet, a/v.
See drawing on bulletin board or Zach for details.
Estimated cost to wire the building: $500 (includes cable, jacks, patch
panel)
Addt'l Costs: Hub or switch; audio wiring & access.
Could do just front 2 rooms for $250-300.
Q: Will it be ready for open house?
A: No - Ameritech takes forever on phone; wiring is big process too.
Q to group: Spend $500?
Sascha: We have $1950 in bank. Prob $950 once checks clear. Still need
checks from funders for Jan. Remember it is 2001 when writing. We will be
setting up funds withe discretionary income for construction, library,
endowment. People can donate to those funds and then management can be
delegated to groups. General expenses need to come to the group.
Q: What other major expenses are coming up?
A: monthly internet connection, phone installation, 501c3 filing fee
Q to Zach: Any disadvantages to waiting for back room?
Zach: No, will just have to spend 2 days wiring instead of 1, no big deal
Proposal: Just do 2 front rooms, since they are the current focus and
are actively being used. Will also give time to scacvenge materials
possibly.
Passes, with amendment to put in one jack in the back room if possible.

Website: Zach found a few bugs that need to be zapped before open house.
There is a part of one script that sends old material to be archived on a
foreign server we don't have access too, thus breaking links to old stuff.
Don't fret, will be fixed soon.
Also want to add the list of other IMC sites' links too.

**Space**
The sign-in sheet for donation receipts from Thursday is missing. If
found give to Sarah. Important; people were promised receipts.

Need more PLANTS, LIGHTS, and FABRIC (tapestries!)

**Open House**
THIS FRIDAY!!!!
Will feature Paul K, Newspoetry, food, IMC website, a/v stations, posters
with IMC stories. BYOB.

Springfield trip is scheduled for Wed the 24th. Meet @ IMC @ 3pm.
Visit Spfld IMC and attend their event at Public Library. Make new
friends. Talk to Paul R abt going.

Dave J suggests contacting Labor Beat.

We need general business cards to hand out. Wait until we have phone.

**Librarians**

**News**

WEFT - upcoming show on County Board. old story, send any new interesting
leads/gossip to Molly & Danielle

Bonus Pay - Mike talked to Gerrie Parr. no new news supposedly.

Nursing Home - Mike, Nancy

MLK Day events @ Illini Union on Monday - PaulK will record event that
Cope requested.

World Bank -Randall Robinson of TransAfrica Forum will be speaking abt
debt forgiveness. 4pm Jan 18th. Illini Union. - Molly

Illinois Power's Tree-cutting- Molly - citizen action meeting held last
week. ICC postponed approving the IP tariff to allow them complete
autonomy to cut any tree within 65 ft of a phone line, thanks to public
outcry. Urbana, Champaign, and new citizen group (IP Consumers United to
Save Our Trees) will be filing injunctions against IP to try to stop them.
Public Input Forums:

Bellflower Mega-Dairy- Molly - Il Dept of Ag recently posponed making a
decision on whether to allow mega-dairy in Bellflower, IL. Area residents
are pissed and have been organizing against it. Recently a mtg was held in
Mahomet to discuss impacts. Mahomet has come out against it. Ruling
expected in the next few weeks.

Czech Journalists - Zach, Maiko, William G -
massive citizen protests against gov't attempt to censor media.
Zach has audio. William talked to Simon Kas.

J20/Inauguration- Rally at Courthouse 1-3pm. NOW Picket at Tim Johnson's
office on Main St 12noon. Funeral Procession?
Paul R & Brent will do video/photos

David Johnson's Trial - This Wed @ 5pm. Rally @ 4:30pm.
AFL-CIO has accused Dave of representing the union as pro-Green. They have
closed off trial to public. Zach will attend at witness for Green Party,
in Dave's defense. Nancy will do story.
