[Imc] WILL program

I just finished a phone conversation with Jason Croft at WILL-AM. He called me to try to move his program idea forward, so I talked to him about it.

First, he's interested in doing a feature about the IMC, specifically with respect to our use of the internet. He thinks it's interesting that we're using the web to supply information to people, and he wants to find out more about our motivations, how we do it, etc. When I mentioned the open house, he suggested that someone from the IMC do an on-the-street documentary, gathering interviews during the open house and possibly following someone through their production and publication of a story. The story would air at the beginning of February, so he needs the audio fairly quickly.

We'd need someone to carry a microphone around during the open house, interviewing attendees. Does anyone think this is a *bad* idea?

I think it would be great to have the IMC "in action" during the open house. I'd also be willing to do the recording, but I'd be perfectly happy if someone else volunteered to do it.

Longer-term, he'd like for the IMC to provide features for him to broadcast. He said he produces his program on a volunteer basis, and he taps the WILL newsroom staff as much as he can. He'd like to have outside sources for produced pieces.

I asked him whether he'd be willing to present radio production seminars at the IMC, and he agreed enthusiastically.

I told him I'd get back to him, letting him know what IMC'ers think about the idea.

What do you think?
