The Socialist Forum will be present the first in a series of films that focus
on themes in the history of labor and socialism at 7 pm, Monday, February 5,
2001 in the North Lounge of Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory, on
the University of Illinois campus. In honor of Afro American History and
Culture month, we will be screening Bill Duke's film, "The Killing Floor,"
a study of racial and class identity amidst the 1919 race riot and labor
organizing in Chicago's stockyards. the film will be introduced by
Clarence Lang, historian and member of the Black Radical Congress, and a
discussion will follow. Free.
