If a response is desired here (and it seems to be), I concur with you,
Nancy, and with Zach.  An umbrella "Progressive Coalition" would seem to
make sense philosophically, and guarantee a larger turnout at events of this
sort.  I'm not sure, though, whether this umbrella organization would have
to have some sort of official legal standing.  If that's the case, there
wouldn't possibly be enough time to organize it for THIS July 4.  I'm
curious what Zach is referring to as having happened last year.  Who is this
mysterious "third organization"?

In any event, I like the idea.  And it ties in with what Danielle Chynoweth
has talked about at least once in my hearing, the idea of a local coalition
of "progressive" groups and individuals with overlapping interests and agendas.
