Please come to this hearing- even if you do not want to speak or give a
written statement- we need to show the ICC that there is strong disapproveal
of IP's tariff. Thanks, Pauline

>Illinois Power tree tariff - PUBLIC MEETING!
>
>Bob Bensko, Chief Public Hearing Officer for the ICC, will hold a
>public meeting on the proposed tariff in the Champaign City Council
>chambers at 7pm, Monday, March 12. The Champaign's Council chambers
>are at 102 N. Neil in downtown Champaign.
>
>According to Bensko, this meeting is NOT a part of the *formal*
>hearing process. There will be no sworn witnesses, and the stuff said
>cannot be presented as an "item" during the formal hearing process in
>June. However, parts of the proceedings may be used by ICC staff and
>intervenors during that process. The comments (which will be recorded
>by a court recorder verbatum), will be entered into the part of the
>record called the "public file" at the Chief Clerk's Office. In
>addition to any member of the public, the hearing examiner, the
>chairman and commissioners all have access to this file, but none are
>not obligated to read or consider any of the information in the file.
>
>At the meeting, there will be no cross-examination -- you will simply
>be given the opportunity to state your opinions, any facts you feel
>are relevant, etc. People need to sign in in the back of the room to
>speak. Based on the number of people signing up to speak, Bensko
>will determine the length folks will be allowed to talk for that
>evening. You may submit written comments instead if you prefer. You
>will be called to speak in the order in which you signed up. People
>who haven't spoken at the end of the meeting will be given the
>opportunity after everyone else has had a chance. Bensko says he's
>looking forward to hearing from the people in the community that will
>be affected by this plan. He hopes the meeting won't go past about
>10pm.
