Is anyone from the IMC planning on coming to Springfield on Wednesday with
the 85% Coalition to videotape our next civil disobedience? We really could
use the protection of someone being there to document what goes on. If we
have at least 5 people, we will do another CD. So far, we have one.
Regardless, we are heading to Springfield on Wed. to answer our charges,
drum up support, and keep the issues of sexual orientation and the human
rights act before the attention of the public.

We will leave at 10:30am Wed. from the parking lot between the Great Impasta
and The Art Theater. Please call me or email me directly if you can come:
359-9884, 244-5072.

Bekka's videotaping last Wednesday and publication of it on the Urbana IMC
web site was awesome!! Thanks!

We also need bodies to participate in the action - either directly or as
witnesses. Please see note below for a special plea from Mary Lee. Thanks!

WE NEED 5 GOOD MEN FOR DIRECT ACTION/CD IN SPRINGFIELD ON Wednesday, MAY
16TH. I say men, because so far the risks and costs have been taken by
women with support from men. We need your bodies beside us now. There is
one woman willing to be arrested on Wednesday and we need at least 4 others
to join her.
It is clear from the media coverage of our action and arrest last week, that
our conflict-and-drama-focused media will cover direct action. HB 101 got
more coverage and , therefore, created more awareness of the issue than any
version of the bill has gotten to this point. I am still surprised at how
many non LGBT people do not know that we face discrimination and how many
LGBT people still do not know about the bill. Getting the word out about
the bill is essential and nothing gets the word out like following up one
dramatic action by others and others.
Please join us at 7pm Monday at the Green Street Coffee House for a strategy
meeting about this Wednesday's trip to Springfield and a local action
outside Senator Weaver's office on Thursday at noon. We'll be meeting in the
room at the back of the coffee house.
