IMC Volunteer Opportunities
from 11-11-01 Steering Meeting

Looking to get involved in Indymedia? These are some areas and volunteer
jobs where the IMC needs the most help.
The Urbana IMC is one of the largest and most active IMCs anywhere so there
are lots of different ways to get involved.

Contact information for each volunteer job is included with each listing.

News working group
====
IMC NEWSHOUR: The IMC News Group can use help producing the IMC's hourly
Newshour, heard weekly on WEFT 90.1 FM, Mondays at 5:00 PM.
Anyone can get involved, no radio experience is necessary. Come to the
newsgroup's weekly meeting, Sundays at 1:15pm
at the IMC, or join the newsgroup e-mail list at
http://lists.cu.groogroo.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/imc-newsroom

Finance working group
=======
ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE: Finance is looking for help with accounts receivable.
This group needs a few volunteers to periodically contact donors regarding
their promised payments, which currently
total about $5000.
GRANT WRITING: The Urbana IMC is actively pursuing grants to help fund its
activities, and already has grantmakers inquiring about the IMC. The
finance group needs a few volunteers willing to help write grants.
Experience with grant writing helps, but mostly a willingness to learn and
follow  through is important.
TO VOLUNTEER: Contact Sascha Meinrath at meinrath at urbana.indymedia.org, join
the finance e-mail list at
http://lists.cu.groogroo.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/imc-fundraising, or attend the
next finance group meeting on Wed. Nov. 28, 7:00 PM at the IMC.

Outreach working group
========
OPEN MIC/CABARET NIGHT: The Outreach group is looking to host open mic and
theater nights at the IMC and needs volunteers
to commit to running this as a regular event. Need volunteers to help do
coffee and snack sales, coordination and other
duties. Contact Brian Hagy at bhagy at onthejob.net or Darrin Drda at
d_drda at hotmail.com
