U-C IMC Steering Group Meeting
Sunday September 9, 2001

Present: Aaron, Brian, Ellen, James, Mike, Paul, Sascha
Facilitator: Sascha
Note taker: James
Meeting called to order at 12:10pm.

UPDATES:

--Outreach group (Brian): The co-op conference last Saturday was a great
success! 28 people showed and much enthusiasm for local co-ops was generated.
The IMC Midwest Regional Conference has tentatively been set for October
19-21 at the U-C IMC. More information is to follow.

--Print group (Aaron): Distribution of the second issue is going forward,
despite the poor quality of printing. Those issues are being worked on for the
next issue which is already in production.

--Technology group (Paul): The new audio station has arrived, which will take
some of the burden off of “Sergei”. Configuration of the new workstation is in
process to try and add network-wide access. The next tech meeting will be on
Wednesday at 6pm with a focus on computers (meetings switch between
audio/video focus and computer focus). As a side note, the video interest
group met for the first time last week. 5 people are interested. The first
item on the agenda is the preparation of activists going to Washington DC.
with proper video-taking techniques. Those interested in the tech group or the
newly formed video group should contact Paul R. (p-riism at uiuc.edu).

--Space group (Mike): The next meeting will be held on Weds. At 6:30pm. There
is a desk in the back room that needs a new home. Anyone interested should
contact Mike (rebelmike at earthlink.net)

--Librarians (Ellen): A new meeting time has been set for every other Tuesday
at 8pm. This coming Tuesday will be a work hour and Tuesday September 18th
will be the next meeting. Collection development will be the topic.

--Finance (Sascha): Amy Fry is being trained on the finance software and will
soon be able to write checks and do all the things that Sascha is currently
doing. Founding Funders will begin to drop off this month as many FFs’ year
commitment is coming to an end. On a plus note, the First Annual IMC Yard sale
held at Ellen and Paul’s brought in a whopping $406.50 after expenses! Thanks
to Ellen, Paul and other yard sale volunteers!

OLD BUSINESS:

--The appropriate use statement is still in the works.
--Organization continues for the DC trip. People interested in going to DC
should contact Sascha (Meinrath at uiuc.edu). There are currently 5 people who
have agreed to do home support for the action. Others interested in helping
out with home support should contact Paul R. (p-riism at uiuc.edu).

NEW BUSINESS:

--No new business
