*Book reading and discussion with author, Darrin Drda; Former C-U Resident
to Share Cosmic Perspective*

*Friday, December 28th, 6:30pm*

*
*

In early 2007, longtime C-U resident Darrin Drda moved to San Francisco to
pursue a Masters degree in what he now calls “the most audacious grad
program imaginable” — Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness. Much of
what he learned at the California Institute of Integral Studies found its
way into a book entitled "The Four Global Truths: Awakening to the Peril
and Promise of Our Times <http://www.thefourglobaltruths.com>," which was
published in late 2011 by North Atlantic Books under the Evolver
Editions<http://www.northatlanticbooks.com/store/evolver-editions/>imprint.

Since the book's release, Darrin has completed two tours—one of the Pacific
Northwest and one of the East Coast. Hoping to share his thoughts and
sentiments with the fine folks of the Midwest, he will be giving a book
talk and signing in Champaign on Friday, December 28th at
6:30pm<https://www.facebook.com/events/380228228730460/>at Indi Go
Artist Co-op. Darrin regards the event as a chance to connect
with old friends as well as meet new allies who appreciate the unique
challenges and opportunities of our day. As his invitation states:

At a time of converging crises and inspiring developments, more and more
people are realizing that a major planetary shift is underway. With so much
at stake, it becomes crucial to understand the deeper dynamics, and
possible implications, of our pivotal evolutionary moment.

• What is the nature of this great transition?

• What are its underlying causes?

• What might be its ultimate effects?

• And what can we do, both personally and collectively, to bring about a
more sustainable, just, and fulfilling world?

These are the main questions explored by Darrin Drda in his book, *The Four
Global Truths*. Drawing from his studies of Buddhism, consciousness,
cosmology, philosophy, psychology, and astrology, Darrin takes a wide—and
penetrating—look at our planetary situation and offers a solid basis for
hope and even excitement as we all bring our particular gifts to bear in
this collective coming-of-age.

More than just a book reading, this special community event will combine
stimulating discussion with a handful of brief guided meditations and
heart-opening exercises. Admission is free.
