talented and diverse student population, including 19 percent international
students, 12 percent Asian American students, 5 percent African American
students, and 6 percent Hispanic/Latino students from a total enrollment
over 42,000 students.  The campus is located Champaign-Urbana (total
population 105,000) in east-central Illinois, 140 miles south of Chicago.

*NATURE OF POSITION*:****

   - The Assistant Director is a full-time academic professional staff
   member inLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center (LGBTRC), a
   unit of the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Relations, a department
   of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.  Reporting to the
   Director of LGBTRC, the Assistant Director’s primary responsibilities
   include coordinating LGBTQ History Month/Day of Silence programs; alumni
   and community engagement programs; and communications and marketing.
   Programs of the center are primarily oriented toward college students, but
   also serve faculty-staff, alumni, and community members.  Evening and
   weekend hours as needed****

   - Collaborate with campus units and student organizations on LGBTQ
   programming, advising and leadership development****
   - Oversee “Quench,” LGBTRC’s weekly Lunch on Us program (e.g. select
   topics, book speakers, implement day of logistics, etc.)****
   - Develop public engagement programs with the local community and LGBTQ
   alumni****
   - Coordinate marketing and communications (e.g., electronic newsletter,
   website, social media)****
   - Assist in obtaining funding support for LGBTRC through co-sponsorships
   and Student Cultural Programming Fee (SCPF)****
   - Assist in the supervision of student staff and volunteers****
   - Maintain documentation files on all events; including but not limited
   to program sign-in sheets, assessments, photo albums and video archives**

   - Bachelor’s degree****
   - Two years’ experience, as a professional or as a student, with LGBTQ

   - Experience with coordinating cultural, social, educational, and/or

   - Master’s degree, preferably in higher education administration,
   college student personnel, counseling, or related field****
   - Experience designing and implementing programs focusing on LGBTQ
   students (and more broadly).****
   - Professional experience advising and leadership development for
   students and/or student organizations****
   - Experience developing community and public engagement programs, public
   speaking, and grant writing****
   - Experience in marketing and communications (e.g., electronic
   newsletters, websites, social media)****
