 Massive Taxpayer Fraud 

Detroit's housing blight is an absolutley horrific example (neighborhood after neighborhood) of Fannie Mae's massive fraud on US taxpayers.  The fraud on taxpayers is Fannie Mae's embarrassingly massive lending losses due to its mortgage refinance policy: to not negotiate in good faith with homeowners struggling with mostly susspect-origination loans owned by Fannie Mae. The banks temporarily enriched themselves with sahdy loans that Fannie Mae bought. The banks temporarily enriched themselves again charging Fannie Mae (taxpayers) for mortgage refinances that never actually happened because bank servicers could not refinance loans owned by Fannie Mae bundled into securities. Fannie allowed defaults instead of refinances.  Now Fannie is selling those defaulted mortgages at hugh loss to taxpayers.
