An Urbana Public Arts Grant Program

Exhibition: July 20th - August 3rd at the Independent Media Center

Reception: Saturday, August 3rd from 6pm-9pm at the Independent Media
Center

‘Reduce, Reuse, Renaissance’ is a free art show, open to the public on
display from July 20th to August 3rd at the Independent Media Center in
downtown Urbana (202 S. Broadway, Urbana IL 61801). The art featured is the
collected artwork of students and instructors from the community art
program, (Re)Making Matter(s). There will be a free reception on Saturday,
August 3rd from 6pm-9pm with refreshments provided.

(Re)Making Matter(s) is a community art program, funded by an Urbana Public
Arts Grant. This program focuses on making art sustainable and accessible
by using recycled, repurposed, and salvaged supplies and materials. The
participants in this program ranged in artistic backgrounds from none to
extensive experience. This program focuses on teaching techniques in
material gathering and construction and sharing skills, ideas, and
materials to make art in a variety of techniques. The result was a diverse
body of work that gave sticks, rubbish, and everyday objects an artistic
life.

At the reception there will be materials, tools, and instructors so that
attendees may make some of their own art. Please come join us and share in
this artistic celebration!

If you have any questions please email the (Re)Making Matter(s) Program
Coordinator, Irenka Carney, remakingmatters at gmail.com.
