Every year Internationalist Books and Community Center - the bookstore
that sponsors our Prison Books collective - gives out the Bob Sheldon
Award. They do this in honor of Bob Sheldon, who founded Internationalist
Books in 1981 and ran it until he was murdered in 1991. They used the 2013
award to recognize the many bold organizers inside the prisons of North
Carolina, saying "This year, we choose to honor the bravery and resilience
of people engaged in struggle against some of the most crushing odds in
our society – the violence and captivity of the state." Here their full
statement.

but has been moved from solitary confinement to the general population.

Lorenzo Komboa Ervin has just had a summons issued for his arrest. He is
the author of Anarchism and the Black Revolution and the co-founder of the
Black Autonomy Federation, whose chapter in Memphis has organized several
protests against police brutality and made the national call for the
upcoming Anti-Klan protest. Read more about and participate in the
pressure campaign to get the police off his back.

Destroying surveillance cameras has become an exciting new trend sweeping
the globe! There have been articles written by mainstream journalists
covering all of the anonymous communiques and exciting videos. Someone
even made a downloadable poster. What a healthy reaction to the ever
increasing panopticon!

Lastly, we want to ask that if you're not already financially committed to
a different anti-prison effort please consider helping us by becoming a
monthly sustainer of our work or making a one-time donation. Your
generosity not only feeds our work, it is a part of it. Pooling resources
is resistance in action. We will continue to provide resources like this
and others to help enable prisoners to self-educate, self-organize, and
challenge the roots of their conditions.
