Angela Davis Visits the CU Community

On September 27, the University YMCA hosts well known scholar, author, and activist,
Angela Davis.

Professor Davis will give a talk at the University Y's Friday Forum lecture series
at 12 noon. She will discuss the work of abolishing the prison-industrial complex.

Where: Latzer Hall at the University YMCA, 1001 S. Wright St., Champaign
The University YMCA is currently offering seat reservations for lecture attendees
from Friday, September 20 to Thursday, September 26, or while supplies last. To 
RSVP, attendees must come to the University YMCA to pick up their free Friday Forum
lecture tickets for Friday Forum talk on Saturday at 12noon at the University YMCA's
reception desk, 1001 S. Wright St, Champaign.  The University YMCA is open from 
9am to 9pm weekdays. Ticket holders may arrive and present their ticket at the entrance
of Latzer Hall of the University Y no later than 11:50am.

On the morning of the Friday Forum talk (9/27), Professor Davis will join community
members for breakfast from 8:30am to 10:30am at the Independent Media Center (IMC),
202 S. Broadway, Urbana.

Tickets are $50 per person, payable to the "University YMCA"

Additional Information: This Friday Forum event is a part of the Fall 2013 lecture
series,
Rethinking Security: Beyond Mass Incarceration. Taking on a year-long look at the
state of security in America, the  Fall Friday Forum series,
Beyond Mass Incarceration,  peers deeply  into current issues revolving around incarceration
and  will feature  expert views on current issues at the local, state, and  national
levels.  Friday Forum is a weekly lecture series held during  the fall and spring
 semesters that strives to raise awareness about  national and  international trends
and events.

The views expressed by the speakers do not necessarily reflect the  views of the
 University YMCA, co-sponsors, or the Friday Forum  committee.  A sign language
