a community performing arts event that will feature performances by Amasong, C-U's
Premiere Lesbian/Feminist Chorus and Master Storyteller Dan Keding.

This is more than great entertainment. It's an opportunity stand up for human dignity
and a welcoming, inclusive community.  And as with any good celebration there will
be plenty of food and drink!

who are able contribute so much more to Champaign-Urbana because of the Y's role
 in helping people gain access to community resources, like legal aid, healthcare,
education, and drivers' licenses?

You may recall that last fall the University Y lost a $60,000 grant supporting its
work with local immigrant communities when the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant 
and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) endorsed marriage equality. The Catholic Campaign for
 Human Development withdrew its grant to the Y because we refused to revoke our 
membership in ICIRR.

Instead, the Y has set out to replace those funds with local donations.  I am pleased
to report that we have raised just over $32,000 to date!  And the proceeds from 
the Storylines celebration on March 16th will help us close that gap even further.
