The Chinese Independent Film Society (CIFS) will be showing a film at indi
go during UIUC's International Week. CIFS is a registered student
organization at UIUC, which is dedicated to independent filmmaking and
critical/creative expressions. Their first independent film "Xu's Little
Lover" (2013, 75min) won the Award for Cinematic Excellence in Illini
Independent Film Festival (IIFF, 2013).

 Synopsis of "Xu: a facetious Chinese" Xu: A Facetious Chinese is an
independent comedy film produced by Chinese Independent Film Society
(CIFS), an RSO on UIUC campus. It tells the story of a young journalist,
Rachel Wang, who seemed to be on the right track of a promising middle-
class future, but there was something unfulfilling about her. When Rachel
met Jacky, a self-made and mediocre filmmaker, they were attracted to each
other in a way just short of romantic affection. Like a cup of tepid water
running into a loud and boisterous microwave, before she was boiled up he
had been powered off. However, their lives would not be the same anymore.
