40 North | 88 West Kicks Off Friday Night Live

Street-side performance series begins May 30

Champaign County - This summer Downtown Champaign will once again serve as the backdrop for Friday Night Live, a free street-side performance series open to the general public. Friday Night Live is presented by 40 North - the Champaign County Arts Council - with generous support from Midland States Bank, Champaign Center Partnership, Illini Radio Group, and the City of Champaign.

Friday Night Live will be held every Friday from 6-8 pm, starting May 30 and running through August 22. Performances will take place at the intersections of Neil & Church, Neil & Park, and Walnut & Chester in Downtown Champaign and will include an eclectic mix of music and street performances including bluegrass, jazz, folk, and blues, along with a cappella, dancing, and live painting. There will also be a special family activity every week including balloon animals, glitter tattoos, hula hooping, puppets, and much much more!

The lineup for Friday, May 30th:

Walnut & Chester:
6pm: Bruce "Bruiser" Rummenie & Dawna Nelson - blues/Americana/roots
7pm: Joe Asselin - blues guitar

Neil & Park:
6pm: Matter of Days - rock/pop/alternative
7pm: Hathaways & Tom Turino - music from the Andes

Neil & Church (One Main Plaza):

7pm: Gloria Roubal & Paul Sabuco - acoustic pop/rock

Also featured on Friday, May 30th will be balloon animals, a pop-up "rock star" photo booth, and tasty samples from Homer Soda Company!
