[Imcamericorps] Fwd: yesterday Americorps

Cara and all--

Yesterday was great! I hope that more people can attend next week. We will
bring materials for more shakers and flutes for those who want to mess
around with their instruments (particularly among the fifth graders). I
think we should move the flute interlude after the third verse so that it
comes before we "get" all the tools to hammer out justice and freedom. If
that makes any sense? Other than that, thank you for taking initiative with
the arrangement. Jacob may have contributions to add, but I think it is all
sounding really awesome. Let us know if you need anything else before next
Tuesday. Otherwise, we will meet you at 8ish at the school to go over
things before the kids show up?

Cheers,
Kat

 Kat,
Hi, and thanks for all you are doing so far! It's great!

Here is the format that we've come up with so far.

Intro (piano
Verse 1 (percussion)
Verse 2 (percussion)
Interlude (piano plays while flutes play pattern and the rest hum melody)
Verse 3 (percussion)
Verse 4 (Split up patterns based on hammer, bell, song)
Repeat last chorus to end.

Since i can't write the notes with typing, i will used letters to
symbolize. the following patterns will be played as our "ostinato" during
each verse except verse 3.

q= quarter note
8= eighth note
r= rest

q q q r  (4 times)
r r q q (2 times)
88 88 q q (4 times)

shaker pattern on the whole song: 88 88 88 q

Dear Cara--

Just wanted to check in and make sure we're still good to go tomorrow.
Would you like us to stop by a little bit earlier so we can make sure we're
on the same page for the day. Please feel free to give me a call and/or
reply to this email. Can't wait to come back into the classroom!

Sincerely,
Kat Lieder
